Image Restoration – Fundamentals of Image Processing During image formation, transmission and recording, imperfections in imaging systems, transmission media and equipment lead to a decline in image quality. This phenomenon is known as image degradation. Image restoration requires prior knowledge of the mechanism and process of image degradation, based on which a corresponding inverse solution method is derived to obtain the restored image. If an image has been degraded, restoration should be performed before enhancement. Common Image Restoration Methods - Algebraic Restoration Methods - Unconstrained restoration - Constrained least squares method - Frequency-Domain Restoration Methods - Inverse filtering restoration - Deblurring caused by uniform motion - Wiener filtering restoration
