To fix the problem that the NVR fails to add the camera because the ONVIF protocol is disabled, you need to make sure the ONVIF function

of the camera is properly enabled. Below are the detailed steps and suggestions: 1. Enable the ONVIF function Log in to the web configuration interface of the camera. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Platform Access, find the ONVIF option, click Enable and confirm to turn on ONVIF. 2. Configure ONVIF user Navigate to Settings > System Settings > User Management > ONVIF User. Create a new account and password with administrator privileges (user group: admin). 3. Check network status Ensure smooth network communication between the camera and NVR, and verify that the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and other network

parameters are correctly configured. If multiple broadband networks are in use, properly configure the surveillance network to avoid network conflicts. 4. Add the camera manually If automatic discovery still fails, try manually adding the camera to the NVR by entering the correct ONVIF port number, as well as the username

and password set previously. 5. Compatibility check Confirm that both the camera and NVR support the same version of the ONVIF standard. For devices from different manufacturers, ensure

communication via the standard ONVIF protocol. 6. Brand-specific operations

For cameras of certain brands (such as Hikvision), you may need to disable the illegal login lock function first, preventing the device from being

locked due to previous connection failures.

How to Enable the ONVIF Function on Cameras All TP-LINK devices support ONVIF with the function enabled by default, and no manual configuration is required. According to actual tests, the ONVIF function is disabled by default on some cameras from Hikvision, Dahua and a few other manufacturers.

If the IPC cannot be discovered or added, please log in to the IPC configuration page for inspection. The specific steps are as follows: How to Enable ONVIF on Hikvision IPC Go to Configuration > System > System Settings, and check whether the main firmware version is V5.5.0 or higher.

Note: The username and password required for adding via ONVIF are the ones configured here. 4. After the administrator account is successfully created, click Save to make the settings take effect. How to Enable ONVIF on Dahua IPC According to actual tests, some Dahua IPCs have ONVIF disabled by default, which causes the NVR to fail to discover or add the camera.

The enabling steps are as follows: 1. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Platform Access, click Enable and confirm. 2. Navigate to Settings > System Settings > User Management > ONVIF User, then create an account and password with the user group set to

admin. The above are the ONVIF activation methods for Hikvision and Dahua cameras. For other brands with ONVIF turned off, the operation is similar.

After enabling ONVIF, the camera can be connected to the NVR via the ONVIF protocol for normal use.
