Global Shutter Technical Explanation & Configuration Requirements

Global shutter is an image sensor technology in which all pixels expose and capture images at the exact same instant, instead of scanning line by line. This mechanism completely eliminates the rolling shutter effect when shooting high-speed moving objects, and is widely adopted in industrial inspection, scientific research and high-speed photography applications.
Core Technology Principle
All pixels start and finish exposure synchronously, convert optical signals into electrical signals simultaneously for temporary storage, and then read out pixel data in sequence.
Key Configuration Requirements
- SensorA CMOS sensor with native global shutter functionality or specific CCD sensor must be selected.
- IlluminationSufficient and uniform light intensity must be guaranteed throughout the exposure period to acquire high-quality images.
- **Data Processing SystemHigh-speed data interfaces (such as Camera Link, CoaXPress) and powerful processing performance are required to process massive volumes of data generated synchronously.
- **Synchronization SignalPrecise external trigger signals are required to control exposure timing, enabling synchronization between multiple devices or alignment with external events.
Conclusion
The global shutter eliminates motion artifacts via synchronous exposure architecture. System configuration must be specially optimized targeting four dimensions: sensor selection, lighting scheme, data transmission bandwidth and synchronous control logic.
