Under the wave of digital transformation, markets for low-altitude inspection, smart city security, industrial online monitoring, and mobile visualization equipment are booming. Many equipment manufacturers continue to face numerous challenges during project integration: single imaging module interfaces that struggle to adapt to various platforms; degraded image quality when zooming over long distances; distorted images in complex lighting conditions; and lengthy cycles for equipment integration and retrofitting. To address these industry-specific integration pain points, Kaimorui has launched the CM8230LE—a 4-megapixel, 30x integrated zoom lens module. Leveraging a mature optical design, a three-channel parallel output architecture, and embedded intelligent image processing capabilities, this domestically produced, modular imaging solution empowers the development of diverse visual terminals and provides a flexible, high-performance image acquisition core for projects across multiple industries.

I. A 30x optical zoom imaging system that balances both distant and close-up scenes, enabling all-weather capture.
The CM8230LE is equipped with a 1/2.8-inch 4-megapixel CMOS sensor featuring 2.0μm large-pixel photodiodes and 10-bit color-depth sampling. It integrates NIR near-infrared sensing technology with the PixGain gain optimization algorithm, effectively enhancing light sensitivity and suppressing noise in low-light conditions. The lens covers a focal length range from 5.2 to 148.4mm, delivering 30x pure optical zoom. An F1.3 large aperture further boosts light-gathering efficiency, while the horizontal field-of-view spans from a wide-angle of 58.1° down to a telephoto angle of 2.14°. In wide-angle mode, the camera can comprehensively monitor large-area regions; in telephoto mode, it can capture tiny targets at long distances. This single module can replace multiple fixed-focal-length lenses, significantly reducing the overall integration costs of the system.
The camera’s core is equipped with an optimized drive-based focusing algorithm, ensuring smooth and stutter-free zoom transitions. Focusing response speed is improved by 30% compared to conventional models. It supports three operation modes—automatic focus, one-touch focus, and manual focus—enabling rapid tracking of moving targets. The product’s minimum illumination level reaches as low as 0.01 lux. It features a mechanical infrared filter with an automatic switching mechanism: during the day, it delivers true-color images; at night, it automatically switches to black-and-white imaging, enabling 7×24-hour uninterrupted surveillance. Whether it’s high-altitude observation for identifying distant people and vehicles or close-range inspection in industrial settings to detect subtle defects in components, this camera seamlessly switches between zoom levels, perfectly meeting both broad-area monitoring and detailed evidence-gathering needs.
II.three-channel parallel output design, multi-protocol compatibility to eliminate barriers to device integration.
Most zoom lens modules on the market are equipped with only a single output interface, forcing manufacturers to procure multiple modules when developing different end products, thereby increasing inventory management and R&D burdens. The CM8230LE innovatively adopts a three-channel synchronous output architecture and is simultaneously equipped with Sony’s LVDS digital interface, a 10/100M adaptive Ethernet port, and a USB2.0 UVC interface. With just one module, it can be adapted to various platforms—including smart PTZ cameras, drone electro-optical pods, industrial inspection cameras, and portable law enforcement devices—significantly shortening the product development and iteration cycle.
The video encoder supports Smart H.265/H.264 low-bitrate encoding and is compatible with multiple image output formats, including MJPEG and YUV. It also supports separate output of primary and secondary streams. The primary stream can deliver video at resolutions up to 2688×1520@60fps, ensuring smooth playback of dynamic scenes. The secondary stream is optimized for remote mobile previews and can simultaneously support up to five video streams, effectively reducing bandwidth load. The protocol system is fully comprehensive and compatible with Onvif, PELCO, VISCA, VISCA over IP, and the GB/T28181 national standard protocols. An open SDK is provided, enabling seamless integration with various third-party management platforms and making it ideal for border defense, transportation, and industrial park projects involving government and enterprise clients. The USB port supports UVC1.1 plug-and-play functionality, requiring no additional drivers, making it particularly suitable for portable inspection devices and lightweight mobile law enforcement equipment.

III. Embedded intelligent image engine delivers stable, high-definition images even in extreme lighting conditions.
The movement features a high-performance RV1126 SOC processor built-in, equipped with a full suite of proprietary image adjustment engines that effortlessly handle various complex lighting conditions. The exposure modes include four main options: automatic, manual, shutter-priority, and aperture-priority. Parameters such as brightness, contrast, sharpness, saturation, and exposure compensation can all be customized and adjusted independently. White balance supports automatic tracking, one-click calibration, and manual fine-tuning of the red and blue channels, making it suitable for diverse environments—including daylight, indoor lighting, and mixed infrared sources—to faithfully reproduce true colors.
The device features native integration of strong-light suppression, backlight compensation, digital wide dynamic range, and dynamic defective-pixel correction. Specifically designed for high-contrast scenarios such as tunnel entrances/exits, backlit buildings, and reflective industrial equipment, it balances details in both highlight and shadow areas of the image, effectively preventing overexposure and complete blackouts. Additionally, the device supports image mirroring and flipping, as well as customizable OSD character overlays, meeting the requirements for video forensic annotation. All image-processing computations are performed locally within the device’s core, eliminating the need for backend servers or additional image-processing hardware. This significantly reduces the overall system power consumption and deployment costs, making it ideal for unattended, small-scale, lightweight integration projects.
IV. Compact industrial-grade hardware design, with wide temperature range and low power consumption to adapt to challenging outdoor working conditions.
The CM8230LE features a highly integrated, all-in-one enclosure design with overall dimensions of 50.×60×102Hmm, the entire device weighs less than 0.5 kg and features a compact size that makes it easy to integrate into space-constrained devices such as high-speed PTZ cameras, small optoelectronic pods, and vehicle-mounted gimbals. It supports a wide DC9–15V input voltage range and has a power consumption of less than 5W. Without active temperature control, it can operate continuously and stably for 7×24 hours, offering significant energy-saving advantages in long-term monitoring applications.
The product is designed and manufactured according to industrial equipment standards, with an operating temperature range of -20℃ to 60℃. It can operate reliably in a wide variety of challenging environments—such as outdoor settings in the frigid northern winters, high-temperature factory sites in the south, ports, and remote field inspections—where temperature fluctuations are significant and conditions are dusty and humid. The device body features a reserved RS485/232 control interface and a 600Ω linear audio input port, enabling external connection to pan-and-tilt controllers and sound-detection sensors, thus expanding functionality to include advanced audio capture and alarm linkage capabilities. The integrated module simplifies external wiring, reduces the risk of component failures, and lowers the complexity of subsequent maintenance and operations, making it ideal for large-scale, long-term projects.
